But thankfully, as a result of who she is and all of the things that she has done for them throughout the ages, she is planning to use politics to convince people to back her up in her plans. The reason for that is that the people believe in her and believe that she has the needed power to fix things, they are just skeptical about her plans. And they trust her and they trust the fact that she will never lead them to danger.

Then we see Jimbei going through more stories and details from his past, we start to get this awkward feeling that a lot of his backstory and tales are just adding a little bit too much to what happens in the present. Although everyone enjoys stories about politics but at some times, the way he tells the story, the story seems to drag on unnecessarily. This is in fact very sad, as everyone could see that the show has a lot of potential to connect things in a good and interesting way. Another awkward thing is the fact that this episode introduced Saint Mosgard, who is a Celestial Dragon, and it appears that he has some sort of a personality issue, this whole thing makes it very unbelievable on how did he manage to become a Celestial Dragon, and how was he able to live that long with such personality issue.

After an agonizing absence, Queen Otohime returns to her people with exciting news. Unfortunately, a horrific act of violence derails the queen’s mission and changes life on Fish-Man Island forever.

But this one was engaging as fans got to see Jimbei before becoming captain and the things he had to go through. Arlong too was showcased as his early years gave the beginnings of how he left to start his own group. Fisher Tiger’s death dampened their spirits and they were only just doing what they had to do because they had to do it. But Arlong’s hatred for humans got the better of him when he attacked the Navy ship and this led to his capture. He is always driven by anger and not every one is like him even though they went through almost the same experiences. Otohome’s arrival and the things she did brought a kind of fresh hope to everyone.

The first thing was to lead a rescue party to save those at sea and then took time to talk about things in the above sea world which would naturally give them more understanding. She is always so happy but she went to great lengths in describing the beauty of the world above. There was so much hatred around and getting across to them was a challenge.

Jimbei had to make Neptune understand how strategic it was for him to accept this new position because he would be securing the future of their kind. And it started reaping dividends early. It was an interesting installment of the show.

Tensions run high when a slave-owning Celestial Dragon washes up on Fish-Man Island. His former captives cry for out for blood, but Queen Otohime sees it as a chance to mend fences between the gilled and non-gilled!

Koala had initially been saved by Fisher Tiger when she would have experienced a cruel death. She gets involved and becomes more and more Jimbei’s’ ward. The goal was to get her back home and there is an emotional family reunion when they do get her back. But things took a turn for the worse when the Navy appears and Arlong blames the girl for ‘drawing’ them. He has a lot of anger but they at times can be put to positive use as he has a way of rallying people around a cause.

So the first part of the episode deals with the happy moments of saving Koala and e adventures that had getting her home but the later part deals with the attack and the fallout. The main fallout was Fisher Tiger’s’ fatal injury which led to other flashbacks with Neptune and his take on how he see humans. This seems to contrast with him saving Koala but gives a more rounded person who had everything pretty well balanced. It was sad to see such a character meet his end.

The Fisher Tiger story line highlighted Arlong’s journey which linked to Nami in the present time. The past is actually serving to give a more balanced present and every thing has been laid out to give a robust direction to the plot.

In the wake of Fisher Tiger’s tragic death, the once-mighty Sun Pirates are splintered by an ongoing quarrel between Jimbei and Arlong. Meanwhile, Queen Otohime’s ceasless quest to help her people begins to take its toll.

The great pirate Fisher Tiger keeps his promise to a young slave girl, but the adults in her village are determined to make him pay for his act of honor.

The focus was definitely on the past but fans got to see how Fisher Tiger operated and how he was driven more by his anger than anything else. The flashback does seem to give them more abilities than what they had when the series started. There colors were also different from when the series started as well. His anger notwithstanding, Tiger displayed more control than Arlong.

While Arlong is bent on killing as much people as possible, Fisher Tiger is more controlled and this was what set them up to clash. While Arlong is so anti-human Tiger still feels obliged to show a degree of kindness to those he has nothing against directly just as he did with the girl by helping her on board to help her get home. It was Jumbei that brokered for the two of them and the girl stayed.

If Jumbei had not intervened, things would have turned into something ugly. Jumbei also understood the connection they had with humans which could not be denied despite the present state of things. The flashbacks were relevant as they placed how things are now in perspective.

Otohime is unlike other members of the royal relatives over the years as they see, because she is the type to get out in to the world there & interact with everyone else, even if he is a bit comically violent sometimes. It is something that both startles the residents & warms them to her, because they see her as being a parental kind of ruler, with their interests at heart that desires to do right by them. A small much in some ways, but such are the dangers of royal rule. Jimbei’s narration of it does not add much of a view from the present, but he gets a few comments in here and there, about how he was received, and the general feeling about how Otohime was viewed by her subjects. The lovable stuff comes in seeing her with the princess when he was a kid, since it is a kind of surreal moment, which is also utterly cute.

When the episode brings the more youthful Jimbei in to play, at the time of being around thirty years of age and having served in the royal army, they get to see the way positive parts of the place had turned rough, and the way it showcased his upbringing in to the man he became. It also brings us a bit full circle as it ought to be showing us the first meeting of Jimbei and a punk named Arlong with grand dreams of his own. With Jimbei being respected there because of his origins, it takes an amusing turn with some relations that come in to play from Jimbei’s own past. You can see the way it impacts things and brings in some new connections that are fascinating, as it relates to how Jimbei has taken a view of Nami over her tattoos, and in turn gives Nami a spanking new look at what Arlong was all about, prior to her first encounters with him that caused her a lot loss and pain.
